A lesson from a mid-wife

Remember that if there is a problem, you don't always need to sort it! Think of how a mid-wife copes with a difficult birth - if the mother is struggling she doesn't step in and give birth. She stands and

• Encourages
• Talks to her and coaches her through the difficulties
• Supports her
• Keeps communicating to her, showing empathy

It is easy to step in, but a leader stands back and encourages the "birth of an idea or solution"
